Description of itinerary

Located in Kenya, in Africa's Great Rift Valley with Ramsar Sites Lake Elmenteita to the east and Lake Nakuru to the west, volcanoes Ol Doinyo Eburru to the south and Menengai to the north, Soysambu Conservancy is 48,000 acres of diverse ecological significance. Thousands of years ago, this entire area was rent by volcanic activity and Lake Elmentaita, is a spectacular setting, framed by walls of several extinct volcanoes, one which resembles a human figure. The Maasai know these peaks as " Elngiragata Olmorani", The Sleeping warrior. The wildlife is incredible on the Conservancy and sightings of giraffe, zebra, gazelles, and an array of bird life are common.

Daily riding times vary but on average we spend approximately 6 to 7 hours out – on a full day and approximately 4 ½ on a half day of riding.

Day 1 - Arrival in Nairobi. Collect from the airport and take to the Tamarind Tree hotel. Overnight in Nairobi

Day 2 – Early morning collection from Nairobi. Approximately a three-hour drive to Punda Milias Nakuru Camp.  Meet your riding crew. After a briefing about the bikes and safety while out riding, time to ride! The Conservancy is home to plenty of plains game, zebra, giraffe, gazelle, as well as buffalo amongst other animals. Riding on and around the conservancy is unbelievably beautiful and seeing the animals from the seat of your motor bike is an experience of a lifetime. Overnight at Punda Milias Camp.

Day 3 – Full day out and about exploring Soysambu Conservancy. Option of a picnic lunch out, or lunch back at camp. There are plenty of routes we can ride, the whole area offers different terrains and different levels of riding – from intermediate to more technical riding. Overnight at Punda Milias Camp.

Day 4 – Early breakfast and out on the bikes. Explore more of the Conservancy and enjoy the tracks and trails we can ride on the 48,000 acres. Head back to camp for lunch. After lunch, approximately at 3pm, head back to Nairobi.

Description of itinerary

This itinerary will take you from the Soysambu Conservancy in a North-western direction to Lake Baringo, a freshwater lake in Kenyas Great Rift Valley. Ride up into the Western escarpment of the Rift Valley, enjoy spectacular views. Wildlife viewing and scenery are incredible on this trip.

Day 1 - Arrival in Nairobi. Collect from the airport and take to the Tamarind Tree Hotel. Overnight Tamarind Tree Hotel, Nairobi

Day 2 - Early morning collection from Nairobi. Approximately a three-hour drive to Punda Milias Camp close to the city of Nakuru. Meet your riding crew. After a briefing about the bikes and safety while out riding, time to ride! The Conservancy is home to plenty of plains game, zebras, giraffes, gazelles, as well as buffalos amongst other animals. Riding on and around the conservancy is unbelievably beautiful and seeing the animals from the seat of your motor bike is an experience of a lifetime. Overnight Punda Milias Camp

Day 3 - Full day out and about exploring Soysambu Conservancy. Option of a picnic lunch out, or lunch back at camp. There are plenty of routes we can ride, the whole area offers different terrains and different levels of riding – from intermediate to more technical riding. Overnight Punda Milias Camp

Day 4 - After breakfast, ride from Punda Milias Camp to Lake Baringo. This ride takes us through sisal plantations, down to Maji Moto and on to Kampi Ya Samaki at Lake Baringo. About 200 km and 5 hours of riding. Overnight at a camping site. Option to stay at island Camp that is located on an island of Lake Baringo

Day 5 - Option of an early morning boat ride to see hippo, crocodile, Ride up into the hills to Kabartonjo and Karbarnet. Enjoy the incredible views and enjoy a traditional meal out. After lunch a short ride back to camp. About 200km and 5 hours riding. Overnight at the camping site.

Day 6 - After breakfast, time to ride. Take a different route back to Punda Milias Camp. Arrive for lunch. After lunch, travel back to Nairobi (vehicle) and drop off at JKIA for your international flight back home.

Description of itinerary

The below itinerary takes riders from the Soysambu Conservancy south to the Maasai Mara, back into the Great Rift Valley and Lake Naivasha. The terrain changes a lot on this trip – from sandy, clay to some rocky sections. The daily temperatures vary, southern Kenya cooler than the Great Rift Valley. Accommodation wise it is a mix of single rooms and camp sites.

Daily riding times vary but on average we spend approximately 6 to 7 hours out riding.

Day 1 - Arrive in Nairobi. Collect from JKIA and take to the Tamarind Tree Hotel. Overnight Tamarind Tree Hotel

Day 2 - Early morning collection from Nairobi. Approximately a three-hour drive to Punda Milias Camp (by vehicle). Meet your riding crew. Day 4 - Depart Soysambu Conservancy after breakfast, and ride to the world famous Maasai Mara National Reserve. The ride takes you out of the Great Rift Valley and south towards the Tanzanian border. The terrain changes and is a mix of red soil and black cotton soil. Picnic lunch on route to the Maasai Mara. Overnight at a camping site (option to stay at a higher end lodge, the Sekenani Camp).

Day 5 - Full day game drive to see the wildlife the Maasai Maasai Mara has to offer, with a picnic lunch out. This will be in vehicles and not on the bikes. Hopefully sightings of the Big Five - elephants and the big cats. Optional visit to a Maasai Manyatta. Overnight at the camping site.

Day 6 - After breakfast, depart the Maasai Mara and ride in the Rift Valley to one of the 3 freshwater lakes in Kenya – Lake Naivasha. The ride takes us back into the Great Rift Valley. Overnight at a camping site.

Day 7 - After breakfast, ride from Lake Naivasha to Karen, a suburb of Nairobi. The ride takes us through the valley floor and up towards the Ngong Hills. Once we get to Karen, we leave the bikes, head out for a late lunch. A day room is available for this day for showers before heading out to the airport for your flight home.

Lake Naivasha Country Club

Description of itinerary

The below suggestion takes riders into the Great Rift Valley and North up to the Eastern shore of Lake Turkana, famously known as the Cradle of Mankind. The terrain changes a lot on this trip – from sandy, red soil, clay to rocky sections. The daily temperatures vary greatly too – the further north we travel, the hotter the temperatures. The trip includes 1 day of conservancy game viewing in a 4x4 vehicle. Accommodation wise, it is in single rooms and camping sites with options for local boarding.

Daily riding times vary but on average we spend approximately 6 to 7 hours out riding. At Lake Turkana itself, we will ride in the mornings to avoid the midday heat.

Day 1 - Arrival in Nairobi. Collect from the airport and take to the Tamarind Tree Hotel. Overnight Tamarind Tree Hotel, Nairobi.

Day 2 – Early morning collection from Nairobi. Approximately a three-hour drive to Punda Milias Camp. Meet your riding crew. About 200 km and 5 hours of riding. Leave the bikes on the mainland and take the boat across to Island Camp. Overnight at a camping site (option to stay at Island Camp that is located on an island of Lake Baringo).

Day 5 - After breakfast, we ride from Lake Baringo to Maralal. This route takes us out of the Rift Valley and onto the Laikipia Plateau. Overnight in Maralal at a camping site (option to stay at the Samburu Guest House).

Day 6 – From Maralal we ride out of the Maralal Hills into the arid area of Northern Kenya. The countryside is harsh and remote with beautiful views. Picnic lunch enroute, then heading to South Horr. Overnight at a camping site (option to stay at a local boarding and lodging in South Horr).

Day 7 From South Horr we ride north to Loiyangalani on the shore of Lake Turkana. Lake Turkana is the world’s largest permanent desert lake. The temperatures here are hot; arrival is schedule around lunch time and we stay at a camp site,. Overnight at the camping site (option to stay at the Oasis Lodge).

Day 8 – Full day at Lake Turkana. ride to visit an El Molo Village. The El Molo tribe is the smallest tribe in Kenya with a population of approximately 600 people. A visit to the Loiyangalani Museum is optional. Ride back to the camping site for lunch and relax in the afternoon or ride for the braves. Overnight at the camping site.

Day 9 – Depart Lake Turkana early, ride to the Ndotto Mountains and on to Ngurunit. Arrive at lunch time. Afternoon walk to the rock pools in the Ndotto Mountains. Overnight at the camping site.

Day 10 – Full day Ngurunit. Morning ride Northeast towards Laisamis. The scenery is stunning and a fair amount of sand riding. Back to the camping site for lunch. Relax at camp in the afternoon or go for a walk and explore Ngurunit on foot. Overnight at the camping site.

Day 11 – From Ngurunit we ride through valleys and back up the escarpment past Maralal and on to Mugie Conservancy. Overnight at the Mugie camping site.

Day 12 – A day of game viewing in vehicles, or even a camel ride to have lunch out in the conservancy. Overnight at the Mugie camping site.

Day 13 – Departure from Mugie and ride back to Dusty Helmets base at Soysambu Conservancy. The ride is approximately 80% off road with some sections on tarmac – secondary roads. Overnight Punda Milias Camp.

Day 14 – After a relaxing morning at Punda Milias, head to Nairobi by road (in vehicles). Late lunch/early dinner in Nairobi, drop off at JKIA for your international flight back home.

Description of itinerary

This itinerary is a combination of riding, to arrive at the Kenyan Coast and spend 3 nights relaxing and enjoying the beautiful beaches Kenya has to offer. Soysambu Conservancy is the perfect place to enjoy wildlife sightings up close form the seat of your motor bike (giraffe, zebra & gazelles), then amazing views of Mt Kilimanjaro, great sightings of elephant at waterholes, and finally to arrive at the South Coast of Kenya – a pure bush & beach tour.

Day 1 - Arrival in Nairobi. Collect from the airport and take to the Tamarind Tree Hotel. Overnight Tamarind Tree Hotel, Nairobi.

Day 2– Early morning collection from Nairobi. Approximately a three-hour drive to Punda Milias Camp. Meet your riding crew. After a briefing about the bikes and safety while out riding, time to ride! The Conservancy is home to plenty of plains game, zebra, giraffe, gazelle, as well as buffalo amongst other animals. Day 3 – Full day out and about exploring Soysambu Conservancy. Option of a picnic lunch out, or lunch back at camp. Day 4 – After breakfast, we ride back out of the Great Rift Valley, past the famous Ngong Hills from the film ‘Out of Africa’ and head south to Kajiado. Overnight at a camping site (or option to stay at the Lerruat Lodge at the top of a steep hill).

Day 5 – From Lerruat Lodge, we ride through small farms and villages towards Amboseli National Reserve. Here we will overnight just outside the park. The views of Mt Kilimanjaro are spectacular. Overnight at a camping site (or option to stay at the Kibo Safari Lodge).

Day 6 – From the stunning views of Mt Kilimanjaro, we ride close to the Tanzanian border, close to Tsavo West National Reserve and on to the Teita Taveta area. The landscape is beautiful with rolling hills to plains. This area is known for large sisal plantations and lots of elephants. Overnight at a camping site (or option to stay at the Hildana Lodge).

Day 7 – Full day in the area. Enjoy game drives in vehicles, explore the surroundings or relax at the camping site or option for the braves to go ride around. Overnight at the camping site.

Day 8 – After breakfast, ride form Teita Taveta to the Kenyan Coast. The ride takes us past Rukinga and Kilibasi Hills, up through the Shimba Hills Reserve and then down to the white sandy beaches of the South Coast of Mombasa. This is the last day of riding on this trip. Overnight at a camping site (or option to stay at the Kenyaways Kite Village).

Day 9 – Full day at the Kenyan Coast. Overnight at the camping site

Day 10 – Full day at the Kenyan Coast. Overnight at the camping site

Day 11 – Mid morning flight back to Nairobi from Ukunda. Collect from Wilson Airport. Option of visiting the Giraffe Centre and the Karen Blixen Museum. Early dinner and drop off at JKIA for international flight back home.

The terrain changes a lot on this trip – from sandy, clay to some rocky sections. The daily temperatures vary, Shompole being much hotter than Soysambu and the Maasai Mara. Accommodation wise it is a mix of single rooms and camping sites, with the option to stay in lodges if desired.

Daily riding times vary but on average we spend approximately 6 to 7 hours out riding.

Day 7 – Full day at Shompole. Options of a morning ride or game drives. Visit Lake Natron. Afternoon of relaxation or riding for the braves. Overnight at the camping site.

Day 8 – After breakfast, ride from Shompole to Karen, a suburb of Nairobi. The ride takes us through the valley floor, past Lake Magadi and up towards the Ngong Hills. Once we get to Karen, we leave the bikes, head out for a late lunch. A day room is available for this day for showers before heading out to the airport for your flight home.

Description of itinerary

The below itinerary takes riders from the Soysambu Conservancy, on to Lake Baringo – a freshwater Lake in Kenyas Great Rift Valley, then on to Njoro, Kembu Farm and next south to the Maasai Mara, back into the Great Rift Valley and Lake Naivasha. The terrain changes a lot on this trip – from sandy, clay to some rocky sections. The daily temperatures vary, Maasai Mara being cooler than the Great Rift Valley and Baringo. Wildlife sightings are incredible on this itinerary as well as the beautiful landscapes. Accommodation wise it is a mix of single rooms and camping sites (with the option to stay in lodges if desired).

Day 1 - Arrival in Nairobi. Collect from the airport and take to the Tamarind Tree Hotel. Overnight Tamarind Tree Hotel, Nairobi.

Day 2 – Early morning collection from Nairobi. Approximately a three-hour drive to Punda Milias Camp. Meet your riding crew. After a briefing about the bikes and safety while out riding, time to ride! The Conservancy is home to plenty of plains game, zebra, giraffe, gazelle, as well as buffalo amongst other animals. Riding on and around the conservancy is unbelievably beautiful and seeing the animals from the seat of your motor bike is an experience of a lifetime. Overnight Punda Milias Camp.

Day 3 – Full day out and about exploring Soysambu Conservancy. Option of a picnic lunch out, or lunch back at camp. There are plenty of routes we can ride, the whole area offers different terrains and different levels of riding – from intermediate to more technical riding. Overnight Punda Milias Camp.

Day 4 – After breakfast, ride from Punda Milias Camp to Lake Baringo. This ride takes us through sisal plantations, down to Maji Moto and on to Kampi Ya Samaki at Lake Baringo. About 200 km and 5 hours of riding. Overnight at a camping site (or option to stay at Island Camp that is located on an island in Lake Baringo).

Day 5 – Early morning boat ride to see hippo, crocodile, then we start our riding. Ride up into the hills to Kabartonjo and Karbarnet. Enjoy the incredible views and enjoy a traditional meal out. After lunch a short ride back to the camping site. About 200km and 5 hours riding. Overnight at the camping site.

Day 6 – After breakfast, ride from Lake Baringo towards the Kembu farm. Kembu is an amazing farm, racehorses are bred here as well as being home to the Kenana Knitters – a project set up to support women in the local community. Explore the farm in the afternoon. Overnight at a camping site (or option to stay in the Kembu Cottages).

Day 7 - Depart from the Kembu farm after breakfast, and ride to the world famous Maasai Mara National Reserve. The ride takes you out of the Great Rift Valley and south towards the Tanzanian border. The terrain changes and is a mix of red soil and black cotton soil. Picnic lunch on route to the Maasai Mara. Overnight at a camping site (or option to stay at the Sekenani Camp).

Day 8 – Full day game drive to see the wildlife the Maasai Maasai Mara has to offer, with a picnic lunch out. This will be in vehicles and not on the bikes. Hopefully sightings of the Big Five - elephants and the big cats. Optional visit to a Maasai Manyatta. Overnight at the camping site.

Day 9 – After breakfast, depart the Maasai Mara and ride in the Rift Valley to one of the 3 freshwater lakes in Kenya – Lake Naivasha. The ride takes us back into the Great Rift Valley. Overnight at a camping site (or option to stay at Lake Naivasha Country Club).

Day 10 - After breakfast, ride from Lake Naivasha to Karen, a suburb of Nairobi. The ride takes us through the valley floor and up towards the Ngong Hills. Once we get to Karen, we leave the bikes, head out for a late lunch. A day room is available for showers before heading out to the airport for your flight home.

This itinerary will take you from Soysambu Conservancy, where you can see giraffes, gazelles and zebras amongst others up close on 2 wheels; the ride then continues on to Lake Baringo, a freshwater lake in the Rift Valley and home to a sizeable hippo and crocodile population. From Lake Baringo we ride up the escarpment and on to Nyoteiya. From Nyoteiya Eco Lodge we ride to Ololokwe, the Samburu tribes ancestral sacred mountain. Enjoy a day of game drives in safari vehicles in the Samburu National Reserve, or a hike and a night of camping on Ololokwe mountain. From here, we ride a mix of off road and tarmac back to Nanyuki. Here you can enjoy the spectacular views of Mt Kenya.

The daily temperatures vary, cooler at Soysambu, to hotter at Lake Baringo and Sabache. Nanyuki is cool, being close to Mt Kenya. Day 5 – From Lake Baringo we ride out of the Rift Valley, onto the Laikipia Escarpment and on to Nkoteiya. The terrain changes on this route a fair amount, from sand to rocky sections. Spectacular views of the valleys. Picnic lunch enroute. Overnight at a camping site (or option to stay at the Nkoteiya Eco Camp).

Day 6 – Full day at Nkoteiya. Options of walks with the local community guides. Enjoy the beautiful scenery and learn about the Samburu Culture. Overnight at the camping site.

Day 7 - Depart Nkoteiya and ride across to Wamba and on to Ololokwe Mountain and Sabache. Small sections of tarmac. The terrain is mainly sandy with some rocky sections. Overnight at a camping site (or option to stay at Sabache Camp).

Day 8 – Full day at Sabache. Options here are a day in Samburu National Reserve game driving in vehicles, or a hike and camping at the top of Ololokwe Mountain, or more riding for the braves. Depending on which you prefer, overnight either at the camping site or camping on the mountain.

Day 9 – After breakfast, a relaxed ride to Nanyuki town, on the slopes of Mt Kenya. The ride today will be a mix of some bits of tarmac and lots of off road. Overnight at a camping site (or option to stay at the Soames Hotel).

Day 10 – Mid morning departure from Nanyuki by road (in vehicles) and drive to Nairobi. Late lunch/early dinner and drop off at JKIA for your international flight home.

Day 5 – After breakfast, depart from Kajiado and ride towards Amboseli National Reserve.. The landscape changes so much – from woodlands to dry lake beds and lush river swamps. Overnight at a camping site (or option to stay at the Tawi Lodge).

Day 6 – Full day around Tawi – game drives on the conservancy in vehicles. Look out for the mighty Amboseli elephants and incredible views of Mt. Kilimanjaro.

Day 7 – After breakfast, ride from Tawi to Karen, a suburb of Nairobi. Once we get to Karen, we leave the bikes, head out for a late lunch. A day room is available for showers before heading out to the airport for your flight home.

Day 6 – From the Rift Valley we ride up the escarpment and onto the Western Laikipia Plateau. We arrive at Mugie Conservancy where we will stay at the Mugie camping site. Along the way – hopefully sightings of elephants and plains game. Game drive after lunch, followed by drinks round a campfire. Overnight at the camping site (or option to stay at the Ekorian Camp).

Day 7 – Morning ride to Malesso – the views here are unbelievable. The terrain changes form black cotton to red soil, and we ride north through small scale farms and villages. After a picnic lunch, ride back to the camping site. Option of a late afternoon game drive. Overnight at the Mugie camping site.

Day 8 – After breakfast, depart Mugie and ride to Rumuruti, then back into the highlands of Nyaharuru. From here we drop back into the Great Rift Valley and back to Soysambu Conservancy – Overnight Punda Milias Camp.

Day 9 – Mid morning departure to Nairobi by road (in vehicles). Optional visit to the Giraffe Centre and the Karen Blixen Museum. Drop off at JKIA for your international flight home.

Description of itinerary

This itinerary takes riders into the Great Rift Valley, on to Lake Baringo and then North up to the Western shore of Lake Turkana, famously known as the Cradle of Mankind. The terrain changes a lot on this trip – from sandy, red soil, clay to rocky sections. The daily temperatures vary greatly too – the further north we travel, the hotter the temperatures. Landscapes vary from lush, green forests to harsh dry semi desert areas. Accommodation wise, it is a mix of lsingle room and camping sites, wit the option of local boarding and lodging.

Daily riding times vary but on average we spend approximately 6 to 7 hours out riding. Day 6 is a long hard day’s ride. At Lake Turkana itself, we will ride in the mornings to avoid the midday heat.

Day 6 – An early start today to avoid the heat. Ride from South Turkana to Lodwar and on to Eliye Springs. The ride today is long, and the temperatures get hot. The last section is through sand dunes to get to camp. Overnight at a camping site (or option to stay at the Eliye Springs Resort).

Day 7 – Full day at the camping site. Eliye is a small village with natural springs. The West Turkana shoreline is sandy and has doum palms – resembling a coastal beach. Option of visiting a Turkana homestead. Overnight at the camping site.

Day 8 – Another early morning start – ride from Eliye Springs to the foot of the Cherangani Hills. The ride is sandy in places, and we pass many small villages along the way. Landscape is harsh but beautiful. Overnight at a camping site (or option to stay at Marich Pass Field Study Centre).

Day 9 – From Marich pass, the landscape becomes lush again, with forest, mango plantations and hills. The terrain changes from sandy to more red and clay soil. We ride a section on a secondary tarmac road to get to our accommodation. Overnight at a camping site (or option to stay at the Kerio River Lodge).

Day 10 – After breakfast, ride back to Lake Baringo. We do approximately 55KM on a secondary tarmac road to Kabarnet. From here we ride off road down to the shores of Lake Baringo. Overnight at a camping site (or option to stay at Island Camp that is located on an island in Lake Baringo).

Day 11 – Early morning departure from Lake Baringo back to our base at Soysambu. The route we take today is shorter than on day 3. Showers and lunch, leave the bikes at Punda Milias and head to Nairobi by road. This will be in vehicles. Drop off at JKIA for your international flight back home.
