A Guide to Motorcycling in Kenya 2023

Motorcycling in Kenya

Riding with Dusty Helmets you will discover the most stunning scenery with ever-changing landscapes and include cultural experiences while out on your trip. Our motorcycle tours are a combination of incredible tracks and routes on enduro bikes with game viewing in some of Kenya's conservancies. You will come across plenty of plains’ game – zebras, gazelles, giraffes, and sometimes while out riding even elephants, from the seat of our world-class off-road motorbikes – a riding experience of a lifetime.

Riding Techniques, Road Safety

The safety of the riders is the primary consideration of Dusty Helmets.  For riders with little experience in off-road riding, we provide training at the beginning of the safari that will give riders the basics for riding safely off-road.  We also avoid the main highways and only do short sections of tarmac when required.    All trips start with a brief on the mandatory safety rules that riders must comply with.

For safe riding, it's mandatory to wear riding gear which includes helmets, goggles, gloves, body armours, riding pants and shirts, camel baks, and boots.

While on the longer safaris, Dusty Helmets will have a backup vehicle carrying fuel, water, spares, and a spare motorbike.  Dusty Helmets also contracts for each rider an Emergency medical airlift evacuation insurance with the renowned Flying Doctors.

While on safari, we provide a backup vehicle carrying fuel, water, and spares, and we also always have a spare motorbike. Inclusive of our services is the world-renowned Flying Doctors services. (Emergency medical airlift evacuation).

We provide transport from Nairobi to our base at Soysambu Conservancy and accommodation in Nairobi upon arrival is also part of our package. For local clients, this is optional.

Our longer itineraries have a minimum of 2 riders and a maximum of 8 riders.  Weekenders are suited for a minimum of 2 riders. For the itineraries, to Lake Turkana, a minimum of 4 riders and a maximum of 8 riders are required to book.
